Job Description
The home department for this position is UCCE Yolo County. While
this position normally is based in Davis, CA, this position is
eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements, for applicants
living in the State of California, at this time. Please note that
hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the
University.
This position is based in Yolo County but has the option to work in
either Davis, CA or Stockton, CA
The Master Food Preserver (MFP) Community Education Supervisor will
provide program direction, logistical support, and guidance to
county-based MFP Coordinators operating local volunteer training
and engagement programs to extend research-based information about
food preservation and food safety to the public. The Community
Education Supervisor will be supervised by the UC SAREP Associate
Director for Sustainable Food Economies and will collaborate
closely with the MFP Program Manager to support MFP programming in
multiple counties. This position will supervise several MFP
Coordinator (Community Education Specialist II/III) positions, with
a focus on counties that already have established programs
operating. Program support activities include collaboration on
development of training and educational materials, web content
management, coordination of professional development training,
enhancement of MFP resources to increase relevance to diverse
communities. The Community Education Supervisor will join a
collaborative team within UC SAREP working to increase
sustainability across California's food supply chain and will
contribute to the expansion of resources and partnerships to
support food preservation and food safety, reduce food waste, and
expand small business opportunities for preserved foods.
This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed.
Pay Scale: $61,000.00/year to $83,900.00/year

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct regular meetings with MFP coordinator direct reports,
conduct annual visits to MFP program sites, oversee local needs
assessments, and evaluate performance of direct reports. Supervises
staff to assure accountability with operational and financial
procedures and stewardship of statewide and local program
resources. Administers performance requirements of subordinates and
schedules. Analyze and resolve problems, interpret policies, and
exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to
determine appropriate actions.

Oversees the design and development of new outreach methods,
courses, and educational materials to be implemented statewide.
Demonstrate solid subject matter knowledge relevant to MFP
programs. Expand Program-in-a-Box materials. Increase MFP materials
available in additional languages and work with ANR Specialists and
Project Scientists on new recipe development for culturally diverse
audiences.

Organize logistics for training of new MFP volunteers. Oversee
internal MFP Coordinator website and develop training sessions for
ongoing professional development for coordinators. Provide conflict
management guidance to MFP program coordinators and volunteers.
Provide additional support for volunteer training, management, and
coordination in counties within daily travel range.

Supervise county-based Master Food Preserver (MFP) Coordinators
(Community Education Specialist II/III) in counties with
established programs where supervision is not provided by the
County Director, or when statewide supervision is determined to be
most appropriate. Mentor and guide MFP coordinators to initiate and
develop local programs and provide administrative guidance and
operational support. Set short-term goals and priorities and
provide day-to-day oversight and advice on program development and
delivery.

Advise MFP Program Manager and UC SAREP Associate Director of
Sustainable Food Economies on changes and improvements to MFP
programs, policies, and practices. Collect and analyze program data
to provide recommendations and participate in strategic planning
efforts. Conduct outreach to identify new statewide and/or national
partners that advance strategic directions for MFP programs. Assist
in developing collaborations with UC ANR advisors and specialists
and statewide programs such as the Expanded Food and Nutrition
Education Program (EFNEP).

Oversee and maintain public MFP website content. Monitor and report
on analytics of county-based social media accounts. Advance
opportunities to utilize technology platforms for virtual
delivery.
