WAYFINDEROur Wayfinder team is building scalable, certifiable
autonomy systems to power the next generation of commercial
aircraft. Our team of experts is driving the maturation of machine
learning and other core technologies for autonomous flight; we are
creating a reference architecture that includes hardware, software,
and a data-driven development process to allow aircraft to perceive
and react to their environment. Autonomous flight is transforming

revolution.The Opportunity/Role DescriptionAs a Senior Software
Engineer specializing in Simulation, you will play a pivotal role
in shaping Wayfinder's simulation data strategy to support the
testing and development of neural networks that power the
development of autonomy functions for the next generation of
commercial aircraft. You will be responsible for delivering
high-quality, photorealistic renderings and simulations to train
and test convolutional neural networks, as well as building
software- and hardware-in-the-loop simulations to validate our
systems before real-world deployment. We are a lean, fast-moving
team that values flexibility, initiative, and the drive to tackle
complex problems head-on.Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement detailed specifications and testing
protocols for simulation data, ensuring it meets the highest
standards for AI development.
- Own relationships with external vendors responsible for
rendering photorealistic simulation data, clearly communicating
specifications and ensuring timely delivery.
- Oversee data sources, including mapping data, aviation
datasets, satellite data, and more, to create accurate and precise
digital twins for simulations.
- Design, implement, and maintain efficient pipelines to rapidly
generate and process high-quality simulation data.
- Ensure that simulation data is comprehensive, accurate, and
delivered on time, meeting the full scope of AI development
needs.
- Manage the flow of high-quality data at scale, recognizing its
importance in AI systems and ensuring it meets all deadlines.
- Develop tools for metadata curation, data review, and quality
management before and after simulation data generation to uphold
rigorous standards.
- Serve as the in-house expert on simulation, providing guidance,
best practices, and troubleshooting support across the
organization.Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or
a related discipline
- 9 or more years of relevant experience, in particular
- 5+ years of progressive experience in software engineering
- 2+ years of progressive experience developing computer graphics
software
- Experience in photorealistic or physically based 3D graphics
rendering pipelines
- Strong understanding of state-of-the-art 3D computer graphics
algorithms and techniques
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, well-structured, and
well-documented code
- A flexible, pragmatic attitude to contribute across various
efforts as neededStrongly Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine plugin development
- Familiarity with fundamental simulation concepts such as
interpolation techniques, time discretization methods, and Monte
Carlo experiments
- Familiarity with techniques in computer vision, machine
learning, or neural networks
- Working understanding of physics and linear
algebraCompensation:The estimated salary range for this position is
