treatment of calcified plaque.Position OverviewThe Principal,
Scientific Communications, is responsible for the execution of
high-quality scientific communications and medical information
deliverables. This high-impact role will ensure that all scientific
communications are accurate and compliant and will provide
expertise in support of the development of new scientific content.
Scientific content includes the development of abstracts, posters,
slide decks and scientific manuscripts in collaboration with
cross-functional stakeholders to drive the execution of the overall
scientific communications strategy. This position will be expected
to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with external
healthcare providers (HCPs), ultimately leading to peer-reviewed
evidence dissemination generated from studies. This role requires a
high level of autonomy to deliver on business priorities.Essential
Job Functions
- Responsible for successful execution of all activities related
to the preparation of scientific publications (i.e., scientific
manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations), including
program management
- Drive process improvements in the Shockwave Medical scientific
communications program to ensure all scientific communications are
aligned with the Shockwave Medical evidence dissemination
strategy.
- Establish, maintain, and expand business relationships with
cross-functional team members collaborating on publication
projects, including external experts (KOL engagement, physicians,
and other health care professionals) to ensure accurate and timely
completion/delivery of information based on publication plans.
- Support exploratory clinical data analysis and interpretation
of clinical trial data.
- Perform comprehensive literature searches and clinical evidence
mapping to develop and maintain in-depth knowledge and
understanding of current scientific literature.
- Collaborate with internal and external medical writers /
scientific communications team members to drive successful
execution of scientific communications deliverables.
- Other duties as assigned.Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field of study. Advanced
degree strongly preferred (PhD, MD, PharmD, etc).
- 10+ years of related experience in scientific communications
within the medical device, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or
medical communications industries or relevant combination of an
advanced degree and related experience.
- Medical device industry experience in cardiovascular medicine
highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing scientific manuscripts for
publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, abstracts and
slide decks for presentation at scientific meetings.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, summarize, and convey
scientific data in a clear and concise manner.
- Ensure that the publication development process and all
materials produced comply with current relevant guidelines,
including but not limited to the ICMJE and GPP3.
- Knowledge of FDA and international regulations and guidelines
including, but not limited to clinical investigations, GCPs, SOPs,
submissions, product launch, labeling, advertising and promotion,
product vigilance, and ADVAMED Code.
- Ability to develop and maintain key opinion leader
relationships.
- Experience and proficiency in performing comprehensive
literature searches.
- Works effectively independently and on cross-functional
teams.
- Effective written, verbal and presentation skills across
various audiences.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining flexibility and
resilience.
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams,
Outlook) and Endnote bibliographic software.
- Fundamental knowledge of biostatistical and clinical research
concepts.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, excellent critical
thinking skills.
- Good prioritization and organizational skills.
- Entrepreneurial "hands-on" experience. Pro-active and a "can
do" attitude.
- Flexible, with a strong ability to work in a fast-paced
environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time depending on business
need.Pay Transparency:
- The anticipated salary range for this position is $143,650 -
$194,350
- The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based
compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is
eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the
terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a
cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual
targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's
performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded
at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
