Petaluma Health Center is recruiting for a Residency Program Clinical Director to join our award winning team!
Summary:
The Residency Program Clinical Director will lead the clinical areas of the NP/PA Residency Program, supervising faculty in precepting and teaching Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Residents, coordinating curricular evaluation and development, and supporting the integration of the program into Petaluma Health Center's mission and goals. The Program Director may also serve as Team Director of the residency team, conditional on appropriate experience to assume that position.
As a clinician, they will provide quality primary medical care in a collaborative, compassionate, and caring environment. They will participate in all strategic initiatives of Petaluma Health Center and perform other duties as assigned, including after-hours call, weekend clinics, and assignments to outside locations within PHC federal scope.

    Areas of Responsibility:
    Residency:

    • Develop, implement, coordinate, integrate, and evaluate the clinical work of the residency program to assure attainment of program goals.
    • Provide direct clinical teaching in both didactic and clinical settings.
    • Plan didactic schedule and coordinate speakers' schedules.
    • Lead team designing program guidelines, didactics, and residents' schedules.
    • Assist residents in achieving learning objectives in all desired areas of care.
    • Supervise precepting, including providing training, observation, evaluation, and feedback for preceptors.
    • Assist in establishing and coordinating clinical rotations within PHC and with outside agencies.
    • Collaborate with administrative director on regular evaluation of resident progress and performance.
    • Collaborate with operations and clinic administrators to ensure residents meet goals for patient visits.
    • Manage relationships with collaborating academic institutions.
    • Collaborate on non-clinical areas of the program such as budget, grants, and accreditation as needed.

      Clinical:

      • Manage a panel of assigned primary care patients.
      • Take appropriate history and physical examination of patients.
      • Order pertinent diagnostics and implement appropriate therapy.
      • Obtain supervising physician's consultation when necessary.
      • Communicate effectively with patients and provide appropriate education.
      • Demonstrate competent knowledge in delivering health care through peer review processes.
      • Participate in Medical Staff meetings and other committees of PHC.
      • Maintain credentials by keeping all required licenses current.
      • Support clinic efforts to maintain and improve patient satisfaction.
      • Meet productivity requirements to improve patient access and fiscal viability.
      • Arrive on time and manage assigned patient panel effectively.

        Manager Responsibilities:

        • Assist in strategic planning for the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Residency.
        • Utilize operational and clinical audit results for system improvements.
        • Meet with residency faculty for performance reviews.
        • Attend clinical director meetings and other management meetings as needed.

          Education/Experience:

          • Graduate from an accredited NP or PA school.
          • Current California License and DEA.
          • Minimum of five years' experience providing primary care in a family practice setting.
          • Previous teaching experience and/or strong interest in teaching.
          • Faculty development fellowship or similar training highly desirable.
          • Experience working in an FQHC or community medicine highly desirable.

            Desired Skills:

            • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care delivery.
            • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
            • Knowledge of quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
            • Knowledge of current principles for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
            • Familiarity with educational evaluation software.

              Licenses and Certifications:

              • Current California license as an FNP.
              • Federal DEA Registration.
              • Must maintain CME as required for certification renewals.
              • Must be CPR/BLS Certified.
              • Candidate must meet PHC's credentialing and privileging requirements.

                Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and requests from patients and co-workers. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
                Salary Scale: $120,000 to $173,806 per year. The compensation amounts listed do not include relocation assistance, sign-on bonus, or productivity incentives.
