Role Summary:
The Optomechanical Engineer will design optical systems for new production introduction (NPI) and optomechanical tooling in support of transfer-to-manufacturing.

You will:

• 
  
• Work with other development engineers to create complex optical systems for new product development.
  
• Thermal management of industrial and scientific instrumentation.
  
• Familiarity with gas flow and pressure stability for sample measurements is a plus.
  
• Document and release designs into PLM systems. Structure BOMs and write ECOs to release new designs.
  
• Execute and refine build sequences specific to laser alignment, optics integration, optics alignment, and system calibration.
  
• Interact with other design teams' groups to adhere to design objectives and support the transfer of products/technologies for release to manufacturing.
  
• Participate in concept development, proposal quotes, detailed design, configuration definition, verification, qualification, manufacturing specification, and documentation of engineering activities, which lead to improved products, increased output, and reduced costs.
  
• Test and qualify optical components and modules. Work with suppliers to improve incoming material quality and acceptance.
  
  Must-have qualifications:
  
  • 
    
  • B.S. with at least 7+ years of relevant working experience in Mechanical or Optical Engineering, or relevant science fields. M.S. with at least 5+ years of working experience in Mechanical or Optical Engineering or relevant science fields preferred.
    
  • Relevant laser industry experience, a plus.
    
  • Expert proficiency in Solidworks software package.
    
  • Familiarity with Arena PLM is a plus.
    
  • Understanding of system level interactions between optics, electronics, and mechanical parts to enable effective problem solving at the system level down to the individual piece part level.
    
  • Able to communicate effectively with peers, interdisciplinary engineering groups, customers, vendors, and across cultures. Able to give effective technical presentations up to the Product Life Cycle (PLC) level.
    
  • Abel to test and qualify optical components, electronics, modules. Able to work with suppliers to improve incoming material quality and acceptance.
    
  • Able to read technical drawings, understand BOMs, and use a variety of precision testing and measuring instruments.
    
  • Self-driven individual with keen technical ability, systematic approach, detail-oriented, excellent problem-solving skills, positive attitude, and strong team player.
    
    Salary & Benefits:
    The base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000 - $160,000 USD. Your base salary and title will be determined based on the location, experience, qualification, skills, and knowledge, level, and pay of other employees in similar positions.
